Add your pen name

Why Write asks for this first

Every series and book in Write sits under a pen name, and that name is the byline printed on the title page. Until you have one, the New book button stays off—there would be nothing to print under the title.

Add the name

1. Open the Library. The first time in, a card reads First, the name you publish under.
2. Type the name exactly as it should print—M. D. Cooper, not mdcooper. Spacing and initials come through as typed.
3. Click Add pen name.

The card goes away and the Library is ready for books.

More than one name

Add the one you use most now; the rest can follow at any time from the Library's Manage row, under Pen names. Each pen name keeps its own series and books, and a book takes the pen name of its series.

If you publish under one name only

You still need it here—it is what the title page prints—but you will never be asked about it again. New books take your only pen name without a choice.
