Find your way around the Library
What the Library is
Every series and book you have, under the pen names you publish them with. The line under the title counts them: series, books, words. The search box finds a series or a title by name; Show archived brings back anything you have set aside.
The rows
A series is a header with its books beneath it in series order; a standalone book is a row of its own. On a series header:
- the universe it belongs to, as a small tag that opens the universe's codex—or a dashed + universe button to put it in one, if the pen name has universes and this series is in none;
- Add book and Import…, which put a new book in this series;
- the … menu: rename, move to another series or pen name, archive, or delete for good.
Each book row has the same … menu, plus Open book. Click a title to open it in the editor.
The toolbar
Three groups, each a set of buttons:
Bring in
- Manuscript — a manuscript from Word, Markdown or plain text, as a new book.
- Backup — a book's backup zip from Write, restored as it was: over the book it came from, or as a new book.
Back up
- All my books — every book you own, each as its own backup, in one zip.
Manage
- Pen names — the names you publish under, the universes their series share, and your About the Author bios.
- Codexes — your universes and their codexes: the characters, places, factions and rules a setting's series share.
- Media library — every picture your books print, by book, series, universe or all of them.
- Book lists — your catalogue as the back matter prints it, one list per pen name.
New series and New book
Top right. New book makes a standalone; a book that belongs in a series is added from the series' row instead, so it lands in the right place with its number. New series asks for a name, the pen name, and optionally a universe.
Archiving versus deleting
Archive sets a book or series aside—out of the list, still kept, back with Restore. Delete for good is what it says, and the menu asks you to confirm.
